This course is intended for anyone working towards becoming an Retro Fit Installer Technician for a Weatherization assistance program, or other home performance industry professional.

It is a required component of the curriculum for any individual working for the State of Utah Weatherization Assistance Program as a "Retrofit Installer Technician"


Retrofit Installer & Crew Leader Badging Course

This badging system serves 2 roles in Utah WAP

1. It is the tool that guides and tracks new employee progress in their learning of the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s) required for the position of Weatherization Field Technician (AKA Retrofit Installer Technician, RIT) This badging system lists the minimum KSA’s required to successfully perform the position of Retrofit Installer Technician in Utah WAP.

2. It is the tool used to track the progress for an existing employee’s assessment in the position of Weatherization Field Technician (RIT) and Crew Leader (CL) as part of the overall Utah WAP T&TA Plan. During the 5 year cycle all RIT& CL must be evaluated to show their competency in these tasks. Identified weaknesses will be trained via the IWTC to an accredited training plan.

In both cases the badging system serves as a record of successful completion of the required KSA’s for the Job Task Analysis (JTA’s) of a Weatherization RIT & CL. By completing this badging system the employee has demonstrated basic proficiency in all the required KSA’s for a Retrofit Installer Technician.

This course is intended for anyone working towards becoming an Crew Leader for a Weatherization assistance program, or other home performance industry professional.

It is a required component of the curriculum for any individual working for the State of Utah Weatherization Assistance Program as a “Crew Leader”


This course is intended for anyone working towards becoming an Energy Auditor for a Weatherization assistance program, or other home performance industry professional.

It is a required component of the curriculum for any individual working for the State of Utah Weatherization Assistance Program as an “Auditor in Training”


This course is required training for any individual working towards getting their BPI Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certification.

It is also required annual refresher training for any individual that is currently BPI QCI certified and working for Utah WAP.

This course is a series of videos and assignments that will help you to prepare to take the RMGA Test from an approved testing site. The IWTC is not an approved testing site. You will have to work with a 3rd party vendor to schedule and take the test.
